What is a High Pass / Low Cut Filter? On Pro Acoustics Tech Talk Episode 135
www.proacousticsusa.com
In this video, Nathan explains what a high-pass filter is and how it works. Using the Yamaha MG06X mixer, he demonstrates how the high-pass filter, also known as a low-cut filter, allows higher frequencies to pass while reducing lower ones. This helps eliminate unwanted low-end noise, such as wind, handling noise, or low-frequency hum, and prevents distortion in smaller speakers.
Examples with both a microphone input and a music track show how the high-pass filter cleans up audio mixes and tightens up bass-heavy sources for a cleaner, more controlled sound.

How to Daisy Chain Speakers on Pro Acoustics Tech Talk Episode # 106
What happens when we daisy chain 8 speakers with 8 ohm impedance. Like in line arrays. How do we determine what kind of amps should we use. Or should we connect some in series and keep the impedance within 2 ohms.
Hello! I have a question about my Yamaha receiver it’s a CR-840 Yamaha receiver it’s a vintage one. It mentions on the manual it’s a 60 watt receiver. So would that mean that I need to get two speakers at 30 watts each? It has more than two connections in the back so it can fit more speakers. I’m so confused about it. Your help would be greatly appreciated thank you
I looked in the App Store and there’s a bunch of apps which one do I use
The app you're looking for is called "EON Connect." You can find it on the App Store or Google Play using the links below: - EON Connect on the App Store: apps.apple.com/us/app/eon-connect/id986872369 - EON Connect on Google Play: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jbl.eonconnect&hl=en_US This should be the one you need to manage your JBL EON speakers.
good vid. Never heard wi-fi "powered" speakers. is the sound quality any better than bluetooth?
Thanks for watching! Just to clarify, Wi-Fi "powered" speakers still need to be plugged into a wall outlet for power. What makes them different is that they connect wirelessly to your Wi-Fi network, offering a longer range than Bluetooth. As for sound quality, Wi-Fi typically offers better audio fidelity and range compared to Bluetooth, especially for streaming high-quality audio over longer distances.
Hi , just wondering if speakers need to be perfectly matched to daisy chain ?
You can daisy chain speakers with different impedances (ohm ratings) or different 70V tap settings, but keep in mind that you won't be able to control the volume of each speaker separately. Additionally, each speaker's ohm rating and wattage rating (in a 70V system) should match what your amplifier is capable of delivering. All speakers in the chain will receive the same wattage, so it’s important to ensure they’re rated accordingly.
Hi I have wireless microphone and when I play back it crackles and idea its got set and it shouldn't be do that
Crackling can be caused by several factors: - The battery might be weak and need to be replaced. - The gain on the wireless receiver could be set too high, causing clipping at the preamp. - If you're using a lapel or headworn mic, check the cable that connects to the transmitter-sometimes, the fine wires inside can develop a short. For more detailed troubleshooting, it’s a good idea to check with the manufacturer of your microphone as well.
What do I hook them up with?amp?I need somin simple to blow neighbors music away, for warning sounds and music
Wondering if they have a repeater function, receive from one and transmit to the next, for use in marathons or really large areas where you are trying to cover a long distance ? Also is the main unit capable of also being a companion speaker receiver, so you could buy 2 stand alone systems and use them together as one system if needed ?
Hello! While there isn't a specific "repeater" function, companion speakers can broadcast to other companion speakers, helping you cover larger distances, such as for marathons or expansive areas. Additionally, there are models that can be used individually or together as part of a larger system, so you can easily pair them when needed. For more specifics on the models that would best suit your needs, feel free to reach out to us at (888) 256-4112 or sales@proacoustics.com.
Hi how many watt megaphone would be suitable for a large street crowd.
It will depend on how many people you’re addressing, but for most situations, you’d likely want a megaphone with at least 20-45 watts of power. This range should provide enough volume for a large street crowd. The more wattage, the better the sound projection, especially in noisy environments.
Can I pair this to my Samsung TV
Unfortunately, the JBL EON 600 series speakers are not designed for direct pairing with a Samsung TV. They typically require a mixer or audio interface to connect with TV audio output.
I have a 350 watt amp (8ohms 700 watts @ 4ohms) And I was wondering if I could run 2 tops and 2 momitors (8ohms) in parallel on channel two while running a sub on channel one (4ohms)? Any information would be helpful. Subscribed and Thanks!
Thanks for subscribing! You can either run 2 mains on one channel and a sub on the other, or 2 mains on one channel and the two monitors on the other. Keep in mind that 2 x 8-ohm speakers in parallel will give you a 4-ohm load. Unless your amplifier is 2-ohm stable, you should only connect two speakers per channel to avoid overloading. Hope that helps!
What's the difference between a mixer and a receiver? Can i use them both together?
A mixer is a preamp that lets you connect multiple audio sources (like microphones or instruments) and blend or combine them for live or commercial applications. Some mixers come as an integrated mixer/amplifier, which includes an amp to power your speakers. For example, you might use a mixer to combine audio from microphones and musical instruments. A receiver, on the other hand, is typically a home audio component that combines a preamp and amplifier to deliver a surround sound experience for home theaters. You can plug in multiple sources (TV, tuner, smartphone, etc.) but you won’t be able to mix or combine them the way a mixer does. You can use both together by connecting an A/V receiver’s preamp or line output to a mixer as an audio source. Just keep in mind that you wouldn’t use the receiver’s speaker outputs in this setup.
You the best 🎉 straight to the point. Been running up and down looking for this information.

That is my dad I am a kid Nathan turner
Thanks for the video bro. but i have a simpler problem Wireless system just turns off After turning on, as if it doesn't have enough power. Turns on and after 30 seconds turns off. do you know a solution for this problem?
Hi Ken, thanks for watching! It sounds like the unit might be defective if it’s shutting off after 30 seconds. You may need to reach out to the manufacturer for a replacement or further troubleshooting. If it’s still under warranty, they should be able to assist you. Hope that helps!
@ProAcoustics thanks for your answer. I will try. Have a good day
Great video, i loved the details and clarity in explaining the concepts
My mic receiver only works with one mic, when before 2 mic was working. What can I do?
Hi Kayla! You might want to contact the manufacturer of your wireless mic to confirm if it supports multiple microphones simultaneously. There could be a setting or firmware update that needs adjustment. Let me know if you need further assistance!
Maybe this was asked before. But if I have a 100W volume control does it mean I can control up to 70w in speakers. Does the primary capacity of the amplifier needs to support the total amount of power needed by the whole system. Or each volume control adds extra watts to the system ?
The 100W of the volume control refers to the total wattage it can handle across all connected speakers. The cumulative wattage of the speakers connected to the volume control should not exceed 100W. The volume control doesn't add or accumulate extra power; it simply adjusts the volume level of the speakers. However, your amplifier does needs to support the combined wattage of all your speakers.
How well does a paging horn work as the tweeter in a 2-way home stereo speaker with appropriate crossover? It has the appropriate frequency reponse: Ie 1000 to 15,000hz
Paging horns are typically designed for vocal frequencies and are optimized for clarity in communication, not for full-range audio reproduction. While they may technically cover the right frequency ranges, they are not recommended for use as the tweeter in a 2-way home stereo speaker. For high-fidelity audio, it's best to use a dedicated tweeter designed for full-range sound reproduction.
You could have disassembled one and shown the diaphragm and the tri-folded horn assembly, demonstrating how the horn assembly is sonically 3 times longer than the exterior length of the horn.
Thanks for the feedback! That’s a great suggestion-disassembling the speaker to show the diaphragm and tri-folded horn assembly would definitely help illustrate how the horn’s sonic path is longer than the exterior length. We'll keep that in mind for future content!
You confused me more than anything. Bro. You explained nothing lol
Sorry for any confusion! Outfitting a restaurant sound system depends on your space and business needs-there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. Here are a few key factors to consider: - How much coverage is needed? - What speaker type and how many? - Choosing an amplifier or mixer-amplifier - Do you need paging capabilities? - Would you like wall volume controls? If you have specific questions, we’d be happy to help! You can reach us at (888) 256-4112 or sales@proacoustics.com for personalized recommendations.
Hey guys! Great video! I was thinking about running AWG12 from the amps to the rooms (have some 100ft+ runs) and once there, use wago connectors and a lower AWG to wire 1 to 4 speakers (depending on the room). Judging by your video, my plan seems fine?
Thanks for watching, and we appreciate the kind words! Yes, your plan sounds adequate. Just ensure your total speaker load matches your amplifier’s power capabilities. Sounds like a great setup!
Hello can I use my active speaker with my dac/amp setup?
Yes, you can use your active speaker with your DAC/amp setup as long as you have a way to split the audio signal to feed both your active speakers and your DAC. Just be sure not to send an amplified signal from an amp to the input of an active speaker, as this could cause damage. Hope that helps!
There’s not a eon connect app on Apple Store, why’d they make this so complicated, I just want to pair with my phone like literally any other device made after 2003
We understand how frustrating that can be! The EON Connect app should be available on the Apple App Store here: apps.apple.com/us/app/eon-connect/id986872369. If you’re having trouble connecting, make sure your device meets the app’s compatibility requirements and that Bluetooth is enabled. Hope that helps-good luck!

OK, I just wanna know as a artist. I am a rapper and I was just wondering like on the microphone I noticed it on some parts I could hear my voice and then some parts. It sounds distorted so I’m wondering is that from the space of the receiver because I was using a wireless microphone and I’ve noticed like recently a lot of issues with multiple people’s microphone and they were telling me to hold it farther from my mouth not to cut it and I was doing that and I still sounded like only some parts I could hear my voice and some parts I couldn’t
Wireless microphones can behave differently depending on their sensitivity and pickup pattern. It sounds like you might be experiencing a combination of plosive sounds and possible distortion or signal clipping. To address this, try maintaining consistent air space between your mouth and the microphone-this helps control plosives and avoids overwhelming the mic's sensitivity. Additionally, external DSP (Digital Signal Processing) equipment with compressors or limiters can help manage volume spikes and ensure a more balanced sound. If the issue persists, it could also relate to the receiver's distance or interference. Make sure there’s a clear line of sight between the mic and receiver and that you're not exceeding its optimal range. I hope this helps, and good luck!
So it means Combo work with either TS or TRS but takes only Mono input isn't it ? In a scenario if I want to connect Keyboard to a mixer better use two inputs to get stereo isn't it ?
That’s correct! The combo jack can work with either TS or TRS, but it only handles a mono signal. For stereo operation, you’ll need to use two inputs-one for the left channel and one for the right channel.
sooooo whats headroom???
Apologies if the video wasn’t clear about this! Headroom in 70-volt audio refers to the extra capacity an amplifier has to handle the total speaker wattage without maxing out. It’s recommended that the combined wattage of your speakers stays at least 20% below the amplifier's max output. This extra space ensures the amp can handle variations in the audio signal without distortion or clipping.
I was hearing this clipping noise on my Bluetooth headphones while listening to a song on my phone. I didn’t know what it was so I just kept playing it for several minutes with intermittent clipping. So my question is can clipping damage Bluetooth headphones from listening to a song too loud? If so, do you think mine got damaged?
It's always a good idea to lower the volume as soon as you notice any clipping or distortion, as this can damage the components of your headphones. If your headphones sound clear at a lower volume now, it's likely they haven’t suffered permanent damage. However, if you continue to notice distortion even at lower volumes, it might indicate that some damage occurred.
@ ok. Ty
Great info!!! Thank you so much for posting this!!
We are so glad you found the information helpful. Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a comment!
Question for you. I have been asked to play a live acoustic set through an in house multiple speaker pub system. I am using my analogue mixer to set levels for my guitar and microphone and connecting this to their wall mounted xlr input. There are 2 inputs labelled mike and external. External produces no sound. Mike in works fine but only if the main out on my mixer is to to practically zero leaving volume control to the wall controller behind the bar area. Is this normal? Any tips ?
It sounds you might need to check if the main mixer/amp connected to the wall plate has its volume turned up for sufficient headroom.
what is the name of cable (model of cable), my speaker is DX-IC4-W amplifier is Revamp4240T?
16/2 gauge twisted pair speaker wire, such as West Penn 225, is the most commonly used option in commercial applications. It’s reliable and suitable for running sound to your speakers efficiently.
Can i convert paging horns to a speaker with aux? If yes, how and what do i need?
Great question! Please contact one of our team members to discuss your application and find the best options for your needs. You can reach us at (888) 256-4112 or sales@proacoustics.com-we’re happy to help!
Yes. just make sure it is at least like 3 ohms dc resistance after you bypass/remove the 70V line transformer, if it has one. Then attach the appropriate wire and or connector. I have done this with shortwave radios as the aux speaker. You get no bass, of course and if you are putting a strong full range signal in, it can blow it with low freq.
Im pretty sure this isn't how it works. Adding more speakers doesn't increase the watt output of your amplifier
Thank you for pointing that out! I apologize if there was any misunderstanding in our explanation in the video. You’re absolutely correct-adding more speakers doesn’t increase the watt output of your amplifier. Perhaps this blog can help clarify things further: www.proacousticsusa.com/blog/post/how-to-choose-the-right-70v-amplifier-for-your-sound-system.
Can it make my boss's voice not so much like Ruby Rhod in “The Fifth Element” (1997)
Unfortunately, sound masking can't change vocal tones to be less Ruby Rhod-esque, but it can help reduce overall distractions and blend voices into the background noise. If only we had a setting called 'Tone Adjustment for Over-the-Top Bosses'! 😄
@ProAcoustics ;^))
I think mine was litteraly smacking the magnet, I had it running 5hz and it was making a clicking sound at the extrusion
It happens! We’ve seen cases where voice coils seize up in the magnets.
In the case of dante, i need a box ( ethernet dac preamp, amp, speaker connector). Even if the box need to be active. This kind of box seem difficult to find in the market. The concept of dante is power on ethernet....and here box need power dc and ll not use power of poe !!! I search mono channel box on dc for convert ethernet input signal to speaker connector out. Instead use long xlr cable i use ethernet cable in wall...with virtual routing dante software......

Would this also work the other way around, so you can send wattage to a passive sub, whilst sending the signal to powered tops? Would the low pass dsp in the amp for the subs get bypassed by the parallel signal so that the powered tops would receive full range?
Yes, you can set it up this way. However, you’ll likely need DSP in the amplifier to properly power the subwoofer unless the sub has a built-in passive crossover. This ensures the sub receives the correct frequencies while the powered tops handle the full-range signal.
Thaat long way just to connect. Absolutely not user friendly
Great show. Thanks
Neat
What can i do when the transmitter can no longer reach the distance it usually go and sometimes it will just cut off
Sometimes interference can affect the signal range, so adjusting the frequency (following the instructions in the product’s manual) might help restore performance. If the issue persists, I’d recommend contacting the manufacturer of your wireless microphone for additional troubleshooting. They can help determine if there’s an issue with the transmitter or if there are other solutions. Hope this helps!
Hi Guys, can the JBL EON10 G2 be used as a bluetooth speaker?
Unfortunately, the JBL EON10 doesn't have built-in Bluetooth, but you can still make it Bluetooth-compatible using an external Bluetooth adapter. You can find a range of options here: www.proacousticsusa.com/live-sound-equipment/accessories/bluetooth-receivers-transmitters.html. We also have an older video covering some excellent products: ruclips.net/video/JuB46LM_Yxg/видео.html. All of these are still viable options, except the Galaxy Audio JIB/BT4R, which has now been replaced by the JIB/BT8R.
Hi, so would two JBL 26c speakers be enough on a 19 x 24 patio with 12ft ceilings? Kind of missing how that would be spaced.
Yes, two JBL 26C speakers should be sufficient for a 19x24 patio with 12-foot ceilings. Space them out as evenly as possible across the area for optimal coverage to provide a balanced sound throughout the patio.

Can i connect powered mixer with the powered amp to connect 15 inch powerless speakers ?
Yes, if your mixer has a line-level output that doesn’t send power, you can connect a powered mixer to a powered amplifier to drive your passive 15-inch speakers. Just connect the mixer’s output to the inputs of your power amp, and it will handle the amplification for your speakers.
